The 345th Airlift Squadron, which dates back to World War II, was reactivated at Keesler AFB, Mississippi, on 6 August 2010, making it the US Air Force’s third C-130 Active Associate squadron and first to fly C-130Js. Under the Total Force Integration initiative, the 345th AS will be an Active Associate unit to Air Force Reserve Command's 403rd Wing at Keesler. The 345th AS will integrate 112 active duty aircraft maintenance, operations, and support personnel with the 403rd Maintenance Group and 815th AS. The two squadrons will initially share eight AFRC C-130Js. The other Active Associate units, both flying C-130Hs, are the 30th AS at Cheyenne Regional Airport, Wyoming, and the 52nd AS at Peterson AFB, Colorado.
