An aircrew from the 136th Airlift Squadron, the New York Air National Guard unit at Niagara Falls ARS, flew the squadron’s final C-130 Hercules flight on 25 September 2014. After landing, the crew was greeted with a water cannon salute from the base’s firefighters. The 136th AS is converting from the C-130H to the MQ-9 Reaper remotely piloted aircraft. The mission was flown in partnership with Air Force Reserve Command’s 914th Airlift Wing, which will continue to fly the C-130 from Niagara Falls ARS. Col. John J. Higgins, the commander of the 136th’s parent unit, the 107th Airlift Wing, served as the navigator for the fini flight. It was the last flight of his military career.
