A sea turtle rescued off Washington State that was treated at the Oregon Coast Aquarium in Newport, Oregon, caught a ride back to California with a US Coast Guard HC-130H crew on a training flight on 24 February 2015. The endangered olive ridley turtle named Solstice was flown to NAS North Island, San Diego, California, and was transferred to keepers from Sea World, where she will complete her rehabilitation. Solstice was dehydrated and suffering from hypothermia and minor injuries when she was found 21 December 2014. She is expected to be released later this year. Here, PO3 Luis Nunez (left) and PO1 Jake Barnett, both based at CGAS Sacramento, California, prepare to offload Solstice’s transport box in San Diego.
