Officials from the US 374th Airlift Wing, the host C-130 unit at Yokota AB, Japan, marked the base’s seventieth anniversary by hosting a group of Imperial Japanese Army veterans and former base employees on 20 August 2010. The visitors spent the day reminiscing about the five years they spent at what was originally known as Tama Army Airfield during World War II. Many of the guests were employed by the US Army Air Forces at the end of the war and helped rebuild the base, which was renamed Yokota AB in 1945. The reunion provided an opportunity for all involved to thank each other for their contributions to the US-Japan alliance.
