A Reservist with the 403rd Maintenance Squadron at Keesler AFB, Mississippi, directs a WC-130J Weatherbird out for a hurricane tracking mission from Henry E. Rohlsen International Airport in St. Croix, US Virgin Islands on 19 September 2010. The crew, from the 53rd Weather Reconnaissance Squadron, which is also based at Keesler, collected data on Hurricane Igor in the Atlantic Ocean. Known as the Hurricane Hunters, the 53rd WRS usually deploys two or three WC-130Js and crews to track a storm. Incidentally, this WC-130J was used to set fifty world aviation records in 1999.
