Another Pending Super Galaxy

The eighth C-5 was inducted into the C-5M Super Galaxy modernization line at the Lockheed Martin facility in Marietta, Georgia, on 2 August 2011. The aircraft, Air Force serial number 85-0003, is a C-5B based at Dover Air Force Base, Delaware. It was first delivered to Dover on 4 November 1986. This aircraft was flown in support of Operations Desert Storm in 1991, and, since 2003, crews have delivered cargo to locations such as Afghanistan, Iraq, Italy, Germany, Japan, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Morocco, Qatar, Spain, and Turkey. The aircraft has accumulated more than 19,000 flight hours and more than 4,500 full-stop landings. Two more aircraft will be inducted into the C-5 modernization line in 2011.
