Six US C-130H crews from the 374th Airlift Wing at Yokota AB, Japan, demonstrated their large formation and airdrop capabilities during a regularly-scheduled Samurai Surge exercise near the base on 2 November 2011. During the flight, crews also trained on low level procedures, navigation, and station keeping among the different members of the formation. As the sole airlift hub in the Western Pacific, Yokota provides expeditionary forces ready to deploy anywhere in the world, which is why large scale training takes place. A C-12 Huron transport and two UH-1N Huey helicopter crews also participated in the exercise that took place over the Kanto Plain, and, as shown in this photo, near Mount Fuji.
