Airmen from the 774th Expeditionary Airlift Squadron at Bagram Air Field, Afghanistan, airdropped a 12,000-pound forklift to a remote, in-country forward operating base on 23 November 2011. The forklift was airdropped to the base because of the prevalence of IEDs on the roads and surrounding areas. This was the first airdrop of the crew’s deployment rotation. A majority of the airdrops in Afghanistan are typically 500- to 2,000-pound container delivery system, or CDS, bundles, so this heavy equipment drop is somewhat of a rarity. The C-130H airdrop aircrew are all members of the 145th Airlift Wing, the North Carolina Air National Guard unit in Charlotte.
