A C-130J crew from the 146th Airlift Wing, the California Air National Guard unit at Channel Islands ANGB, performs a Modular Airborne Firefighting System, or MAFFS, water drop over the Angeles National Forest during the unit’s annual week-long recertification and training operations from 5-9 March 2012. Nearly 100 personnel from the Air National Guard and US Forest Service gathered at the Port Hueneme base. Wing officials were aiming for twelve practice water drops a day to qualify personnel, including twenty-five pilots, in the use of MAFFS 2 equipment.
