A non-flyable C-130 was delivered by truck to Pope Field at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, on 6 May 2012 for use training aeromedical evacuation teams. The aircraft systems are still functional, which allows evac students to practice everything they would experience on an actual mission except for flight. The school has one modified C-130 for training, but with the high number of classes going on, students often had to wait for time to train in the aircraft. This second trainer will streamline operations. The current trainer is equipped with a sound and vibration system to mimic sounds and movements, and it can even produce smoke to simulate a fire. These features will be added to the new trainer.
