Airmen from the 439th Maintenance Squadron at Westover ARB, Massachusetts, installed a 1,000-pound aluminum model of a C-5B they had fabricated in the squadron backshops on 6 June 2012. The new, heftier model replaces one destroyed by a microburst windshear in July 2011. MSgt. Dan Labelle, an Air Reserve technician and aircraft structural repair technician, supervised the work of four senior Airmen who built the 1:12 scale model. The 439th Airlift Wing currently flies C-5Bs and Westover is scheduled to be the third base to receive the C-5M Super Galaxy.
