Operation Wing Lightning

US Airmen parachute from a C-130J onto a landing zone at Bitburg Airfield, Germany, during Operation Wing Lightning on 12 July 2010. The exercise is designed to show the ability of the participating units to open and operate an airfield in order to provide humanitarian assistance in case of a natural disaster. The airdropped Airmen are from the 435th Air Ground Operations Wing, 435th Contingency Response Group, 435th Security Forces Squadron, and 435th Air Mobility Squadron at Ramstein AB, Germany. The C-130J aircrew is assigned to the 37th Airlift Squadron, also at Ramstein.
