Combat King II, No. 8

The eighth of fifteen HC-130J Combat King II personnel recovery aircraft currently on order for the US Air force was flown from the Lockheed Martin facility in Marietta, Georgia, to Davis-Monthan AFB, Arizona, on 6 March 2013. The aircraft (Air Force serial number 10-5717) will be assigned to the 79th Rescue Squadron at the base in Tucson. While the 79th RQS is physically located at Davis-Monthan, the squadron is operationally assigned to the 563rd Rescue Group at Moody AFB, Georgia. The HC-130J is currently flown by operational Air Combat Command crews at Davis-Monthan and by Air Education and Training command crews and students the Combat King II schoolhouse at Kirtland AFB, New Mexico.
